Erciyes University is among the Best Universities in the World in THE 2025 Interdisciplinary Science Rankings


Times Higher Education (THE), one of the world's most prestigious university ranking organizations, announced the results of the Interdisciplinary Science Rankings (ISR) for 2025, organized for the first time this year.

THE Interdisciplinary Science Rankings, launched in partnership with Schmidt Science Fellows, is the first effort of its kind to measure universities’ contribution to interdisciplinary science. Erciyes University had a significant success in this international ranking in which 749 universities from 92 countries participated. It ranked 120th among world universities and 3rd among state universities in the national ranking.

In his statement on the subject, ERU Rector Prof. Dr. Fatih Altun said: “Erciyes University has achieved a great success by ranking 3rd among state universities in Türkiye and 120th among world universities. ERU attaches great importance to interdisciplinary studies that bring together different approaches and methods in the disciplines of Health and Life Sciences, Science and Engineering Sciences, and Social Sciences and Humanities thanks to its research-oriented management approach. In this context, it carries out many activities that contribute to interdisciplinary studies. We would like to thank all our researchers who contributed to the success of our university.”

The Interdisciplinary Science Ranking methodology consists of 11 indicators in total, covering three sections: inputs, process and outputs, each representing the cycle of the creation of research projects. The inputs section (19%) is represented by the indicators for interdisciplinary scientific research funding (8%) and industry funding (11%). The process section (16%) consists of data on indicators for measures of success (4%), physical facilities (4%), administrative support (4%) and promotion (4%). The outputs section (65%) is scored according to the indicators for the number of interdisciplinary scientific research publications (10%), the proportion of interdisciplinary scientific research publications (5%), the benefit outside the discipline (5%), the quality of interdisciplinary scientific research (20%) and reputation (25%).
